Chapter Nine

Rayvin paced the length of her studio, picking at her nails.

It was impossible for her to find any solace here now, knowing that a vampire was comfortably ensconced under the floor.

In the middle of the night, she had followed the tunnel from her house, figuring it led to this building, but the damned electric collar had grabbed her not ten feet away from her home. The discovery of how far her invisible leash extended had been every bit as unpleasant as de Sade’s earlier tortures. She’d passed out from the pain, and stayed unconscious long enough for the damp to seep into her clothing.

Her eyes had opened on the vampire’s face leering down at her, the harsh light of her torch making grotesque shadows on his face.

Rayvin’s first reaction had been an attempt to cry out, which turned into a strangled kind of groan with her abused vocal chords.

Then, instinctually, she struck out at him.

Amazingly, she hit him. Unfortunately, it was with the flashlight, rather than her erstwhile stake.

De Sade had been as taken aback as she had been with her lucky strike. He’d paused for a few minutes, clearly torn between outrage and amusement.

“I didn’t know you liked the rough stuff, Rayvin darling,” he’d murmured.

And damn him to hell, he’d seduced her again, on the cold earthen floor of the mine tunnel, just a few centimeters away from another electric shock.

As if she didn’t feel dirty enough.

Their fervent, desperate coupling had left more bruises and scrapes on her back and buttocks. It was like her body belonged wholly to him, as soon as he touched her. Her brain went on a little vacation every time and her vag took over all her decision-making skills. It was disgusting.

And it was sore.

The fucking vampire hadn’t been satisfied with just fucking her on the kitchen floor, and then taking her in the tunnel. Oh, no. Rayvin tore back the top of her left thumbnail, hissing when the quick underneath was exposed to the air. Almost immediately after they’d both come, he’d picked up her still-writhing body and thrown it over his shoulder. Unceremoniously hauling her back up the mine shaft to her basement and then to her bed. The vampire had stripped off her clothing, tearing seams and wrecking zippers in the process, before burying himself once more in her stupidly willing body.

Her morning, after only a few hours of sleep, was not going well.

She’d taken a mirror and a razor blade into the shower, after boiling said blade for five minutes in a pot on her stove, but she couldn’t work up the courage to cut the sensor out of her neck.

And then, right after she’d gotten to work, she had found de Sade’s arrogant note on her desk. Apparently he was going to be spending his days under her business as often as he wished, for the foreseeable future.

A quick trip down the stairs to the sub-level as quietly as she could manage with her still-aching woman parts, showed her that he was indeed as good as his word.
